It all looks genuine at first glance, especially when it includes a desperate plea urging people to share the post. But as sympathetic as it seems, this is actually a hoax – the latest in a series of disturbing “missing person” scams that have been showing up online.

No Official Contact Information: Legitimate missing person posts typically include contact details for local law enforcement or a national hotline like the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.
Lack of Media Coverage: If a teenager is genuinely missing, local news and law enforcement outlets will usually report it. In this case, no credible sources have mentioned Chloe Grady’s disappearance.
Focus on Shares, Not Action: Real alerts provide instructions on what to do if you have information, such as calling authorities. Hoaxes emphasize sharing the post without clear steps to help.
